Our Story, Community and Purpose

FLCCG began with a local planning application leaflet drop in 2024. As a result, concerns about this large-scale planning application sparked important conversations among local residents.

Since then, residents have shaped an independent, non-political and volunteer-led community group. Together, we continue building a shared voice for North Fenny Stratford.

Those early conversations connected residents around shared concerns and a collective community voice. Consequently, FLCCG grew from that starting point into a community-led group focused on local matters.

Who We Are and What Makes FLCCG Different

FLCCG is an independent, non-political and volunteer-led group focused on local matters. Unlike a traditional residents’ association, we connect people around shared concerns within our hyper-local neighbourhood.

By considering evidence and sharing information, we help residents understand local issues. Furthermore, we encourage constructive engagement with relevant organisations.

Our approach is simple: listen to residents, understand the issues, share information and help support informed local discussion.

The FLCCG Team

A small core team of local residents supports Fenny Lock Canal & Community Group. Each person brings different backgrounds, skills, experiences and perspectives.

However, our shared care for Fenny Stratford brings us together. As a result, we collaborate, exchange ideas and contribute in different ways.

In this way, our team gives its time and knowledge to support an informed local community voice.

Our Neighbourhood and Shared Concerns

North Fenny Stratford includes distinctive streets, familiar places and canal-side heritage. Together, these surroundings shape residents’ experiences and contribute to the character of our neighbourhood.

Although residents may experience different circumstances across Lock View Lane, Simpson Road, Staple Hall Road and nearby roads, shared concerns often connect our wider community. In turn, these connections help shape our collective voice.

By recognising both the individual and shared experiences of residents, FLCCG aims to help build a better understanding of the issues affecting our local neighbourhood.

Our Growth and Community Connections

As more residents connect with FLCCG, our understanding of local matters continues to grow. Meanwhile, conversations and shared knowledge help shape our work.

Through our website and community updates, we make local information easier to access. Additionally, we welcome contributions and encourage local conversations.

Our aim is to create a useful local resource where residents can find information, understand community matters and stay connected with what is happening around them.

How FLCCG Is Funded

FLCCG receives voluntary contributions from a small group of local residents. These contributions cover website running costs in three-year cycles.

Additionally, contributions support online and offline activities on a case-by-case basis. Through this approach, we manage resources responsibly and support community engagement.

FLCCG remains focused on using available resources carefully while maintaining its independent, volunteer-led approach.
