What Local Issues Can You Report?

Our Report It page focuses on visible local issues that residents can easily identify, photograph and describe. Therefore, you do not need specialist knowledge to show us what you have. The simple principle is “take a photo and show us”. In addition, a clear photo can explain an issue quickly, while the location and a short description provide useful context.

Potholes and Road Damage

Photograph potholes, craters, broken surfaces or other obvious road damage. Where possible, include the location and show the size or position of the damaged area.

Overgrown Vegetation and Access Problems

Report hedges, bushes, shrubs or tree growth that restrict public space, block signs or affect visibility. In particular, a photograph can clearly show where vegetation is causing the problem.

Broken or Missing Streetlights

Show streetlights that appear damaged, broken or missing. Where possible, include the surrounding area so the location can be identified clearly and the issue understood.

Damaged or Obscured Traffic Signs

Photograph traffic signs that are damaged, twisted, knocked over, covered by vegetation or difficult to see. In addition, include surrounding detail to help identify their location clearly.

Uneven Manhole Covers and Road Covers

Report covers that are visibly raised, sunken, damaged or uneven. A photograph can therefore show the cover alongside the surrounding road or pavement and its position.

Blocked or Obstructed Footpaths

Photograph anything blocking or narrowing a footpath, including vehicles, vegetation, debris, equipment or other objects. In this way, the image can show both the obstruction and the affected pedestrian route.

Damaged Pavements and Footpaths

Show cracked, broken, uneven or badly damaged pedestrian surfaces. As a result, a clear photograph can help demonstrate the condition of the pavement or footpath and its location.

Fly-Tipping and Dumped Waste

Photograph rubbish, furniture, building materials or other waste dumped in a public area. Where possible, include surrounding detail so the site and extent of the waste can be identified.

Damaged Street Furniture

Report damaged bollards, railings, benches, barriers, posts or other public fixtures. Additionally, photograph the damage clearly and include nearby landmarks where they help identify the location.

Obstructions and Access Problems

Show anything restricting access on roads, footpaths, crossings or other public areas. In particular, a photograph should demonstrate what is obstructed, where it occurs and how access is affected.
